SMS: Caramel Apple Banana Bread

Another banana bundt cake. While I didn't taste this one (dairy), so can't give you a great comparison with the TWD Banana Bundt Cake, this sure smelled heavenly and got rave reviews from my Father's work. This week's recipe was chosen by Joy of Hot Oven Warm Heart. She is super sweet and says she is new to blogging, but if you look at her pictures and her posts, I am not to convinced - so beautiful. Really glad Joy was able to join SMS, she is a great addition and writes such thoughtful comments. Great pick Joy! You can get the recipe from here blog HERE. It was slightly more involved with having to chop and carmelize the apple pieces, but my dad swore it was worth it - for him! And it was a bundt because I was baking at my parent's house and they did not have a loaf pan, so there you go. Check out the other creative SMS bloggers HERE.

As an aside, I know I have mentioned serveral times this summer that things are hectic - and apologized for my derelic commenting - well hectic hit a new high last week, some good some bad. So, trying to stay above water and will make the rounds as soon as I can. Thanks so much for still commenting on my blog - you are such terrific supporters.

P.s. please excuse the I-phone photo.

  5. Hi Lorelei!

Thank you so much for baking along with me this week, even with your busy schedule! I'm really sorry my pick was something not lactose-intolerant friendly- you would think I'd know better, right? (I'm glad to hear your dad enjoyed it, though!) This recipe is just such a family favorite for me, and was THE recipe that got me involved in this fantastic group you put together. I had already made it MANY times, and because it was always so well received, I was anxious to try more recipes from the book. And boy, I'm glad that you were kind enough to allow me to join (especially since I was just starting up my blog!)... it has been such an amazing experience getting to know the other bakers (yourself most definitely included)! Thank you for all your support, including your always incredibly sweet comments- I know how hard it must be making the rounds as our fearless leader, so finding your messages is always much appreciated. Oh, and before I forget, your bundt cake looks fantastic (my goodness, those iPhones can take some high quality pictures!)

I'm sorry to hear that things have been so crazy for you lately (especially that some not so good things have been getting you down), but I hope things turn around soon. You will certainly be in my thoughts! Please remember to take care of yourself and REST UP. Hey, why don't you go put your feet up right now?

Thanks again for everything, and I hope to hear from you soon! Have a great start to your week!

    Joy

  7. Not bad for an iphone pic! I like the bundt pan idea. I think it suits the recipe. Much prettier than an old loaf anyway!

  9. Loaf or bundt, it looks good to me and I'd still eat it! I'm not ususally a fan of banana breads but the addition of caramel apples puts this over the top for me. Yum!

Hang in there. I'm sorry for whatever you are going through. But I'll be here cheering you on nonetheless.

  19. I've been on a bit of a banana cake kick lately, probably due to the fact that I tend to overbuy bananas and then watch them rot on my counter. I've never tried a banana/apple hybrid cake, and this one looks fabulous!

I hope that all is well and that things calm down for you soon!
